Breaking Bread

Hi everyone! Bet you thought I fell into a hole somewhere. Nah, I've just been traveling and job hunting. Anyone want to hire me? :)

Anyway, my mom came to Chicago for the week and I have had my own personal cooking classes with her. Today we made Italian Easter Bread, a family tradition for at least 6 generations. There is a family recipe, but the tradition rests in mixing the ingredients on how they look, feel, and respond. The smell of childhood is all through my home right now. I love love love it!

The braiding represents the Holy Trinity of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. The rising of the bread also represents the rising of Christ from the dead.
